Welcome
Oxford Isis Korfball Club was set up in 2007. We are looking to recruit people who are new to Korfball, so if you haven't played before, don't worry, there are other beginners too. All you need is to be able to run round a bit, and some hand/eye coordination is useful as well. Anyone who has played sports before can easily pick up the game. We play all year round, indoors in the winter and outdoors in the summer. We compete in local league and cup competitions with clubs from Abingdon, Oxford, Didcot, Reading & Basingstoke, as well as tournaments around the country.
You've got this far and aren't sure what Korfball is?
Korfball is a unique mixed team sport that men and women play together, with similarities to basketball, and handball, but very different. It's fast-moving and skillful, for players of all ages (we range from early 20s to 40s) and various abilities (no experience at all, to 15+ years), and it's competitive yet friendly. Isis 2 started as clear underdogs against Basingstoke 1 who have only lost two matches this season in their OKA matches. Basingstoke were missing several of their regular first team, and Isis 2 were missing Dom, Nick, and Lesley.
It was a low scoring first half, with determined defending from Isis stopping Basingstoke from using their good long shots as much as usual. Despite this Vlad was able to score two excellent shots from distance. However, with Justin's long shot becoming a regular feature, and a cheeky turn and shoot from Martin, Isis were enexpectedly ahead 5 - 4 at half time as a result of coach claire's plan working exactly as hoped.
The second half saw Basingstoke improving their shooting and they quickly drew level and then ahead. However, Isis were also improving and with several long shots from Justin, Claire, and other, drew level with 5 minutes to go. No further goals meant 5 minutes of golden goal in a repeat of the OKA cup final.
After a few nervy minutes, with several Basinsgtoke shots almost going in, Isis were awarded a penalty, but missed! It seemed penalties were going to decide the game, but an excellent long shot by Latoya meant Isis 2 had won the OKA Plate!! |

City 2 beat Didcot by 12 - 6 to progress to the Plate semis.
Isis 2 then took on Abingdon 1 who had drawn with Isis 1 the previous weekend.
Abingdon quickly took a 3 goal lead, but at half time Isis were back to 2 down. An inspired 2nd half saw Isis draw level with 5 minutes to go, but then Abingdon pulled ahead. Another goal by Isis at the end meant a draw, and Golden goal. After a nervy couple of attacks Isis scored a runner and are into the Plate final! |

The OKA team travelled to Cardiff on Saturday for a double-header against two of the three Welsh teams.
The first game ended with an excellent 14 - 12 win over a strong Cardiff Dragons team.
The second game didn't go as smoothly, but was still a good win by 15 - 7 over Cardiff University. |

Not sure of the final scores, but Isis 2 had a comprehensive win over Didcot 1.
In the final game of the evening Abingdon2 and City2 fought a hard and very clean match, the closeness of which wasn't truly reflected in the final result of 10 - 5 to Abingdon2. |
